A country of 48 million inhabitants, the large majority living in the countryside. Minimal Ocidental influence: men wearing longyis, almost no brands can be found on the shelves (very, very rarely you see a Coke or a Lux). People who love to smile, work and who enjoy soccer. People who are bright, active and literate (almost 98% of the population). Burma

After working with Burmese refugees and asylum seekers living in Delhi I went inside Burma, mostly because the Burmese people I met loved so much their country, its nature and culture, that I wanted to find out more about the country they had to leave behind.

I had to create a whole new identity for myself, given that saying to the military government that I work for the major international human rights organisation would not really work. It all went fine and I kept under my tourist hat.
